Northwood
School held a fund-raiser to help the victims of the Haitian earthquake.
The fund-raiser was called “Hats for Haiti”, and took place on Friday,
February 19, 2010.
Northwood
students and staff participated by donating $1.00 for Haiti and were
then allowed to wear a hat all day in school. On this single day
Northwood School collected close to $375.00. All funds were
donated to the American Red Cross in Concord and directed to the
International Response Fund that provides relief to Haiti. The success
of this one day fund-raiser demonstrates how Northwood School lives the
school’s eight conditions that make a difference, in particular, having
the confidence to take action.
“As I was
looking at the classrooms full of students with hats on, I saw
individuals who were being taught that they can make a difference.”
