USARAF Soldier Pinned By U.S. Ambassador In Africa
By Sgt. Terysa M. King, U.S. Army Africa Public Affairs
Vicenza, ITALY - Every promotion in the Army is special. For newly
promoted Capt. Craig W. Sanderson, his latest promotion will likely
be one of his most memorable and unique promotions of his Army
career.
During the closing ceremony for a medical training exercise in
Benin, Africa, Sanderson stood before all the exercise participants
and was pinned with the rank of captain by Michael Raynor, U.S.
Ambassador to Benin, Jan. 25.
Sanderson, a Gilmanton, N.H. native, said he felt honored that his
promotion was a part of the closing ceremonies with the Benin and
U.S. Army officials.
“My promotion was just a small part of the closing ceremonies. I was
excited to share that experience with the Beninese military. It was
fitting because I’m a medical service corps officer so I thought it
was a unique opportunity to get pinned,” Sanderson said.
Sanderson currently works as an aide de camp for the U.S. Army
Africa deputy commanding generals.
