Cumings Conservation Center in Deerfield, NH.
On May 10, 2013, the Environmental Science class from Coe-Brown
Northwood Academy took a field trip to the Cumings Conservation
Center in Deerfield, NH to build a water garden. Prior to the visit,
the class had given input for a grant that Center Director Jean
Cumings had written to fund the project.
During the day, student volunteers were able to get the four tiers
of the water garden’s waterfall and pool into the ground and some
planting done. Students involved in the project include Carlee Beck,
Connor Bell, Mikayla Hodil, Matt Steenbergen, Brett Wimsatt,
Courtney Brown, Samantha Donohue, Mike LeDuc, Charles Allen, and
Noah Macri along with teachers Wini Young and Jean Cumings.
The Cumings Conservation Center is designed to
provide an opportunity for people of all ages to discover a lifelong
appreciation for the natural world. For more information about the
center, visit
