The Chichester Garden Club is proud to announce its second biennial “Historic Chichester Garden Tour” being held Saturday and Sunday, July 25 & 26, 2015.  Tickets are $10 each day or both days for $15; advance tickets available:  Chichester Historical Society on Tuesdays 9-12 or Town Library (M&W 2:30-8:30, T&T 10-1:30, F 1:30-4:30, Sat 9-12).  Days of event - tickets and registration at Historical Society from 8:00am - 8:45am; cash or check only.  Reservations can be made online [email protected]; tickets will be held for you.

Registration and parking for Saturday & Sunday:  Attendees will begin their day by parking at the Grange Hall, crossing the street to the Historical Society (49 Main Street) for registration, ticket purchase and light morning refreshments; feel free to browse the Museum Gift Shop.   Each registrant will receive a Tour map, a Heritage map indicating historic points of interest, and a numbered ticket to be kept for door prizes and entrance to Tour Sites.  While parking and registering, enjoy the Grange Hall Memorial Garden and the heritage garden of the Historical Society.

Special this year on Saturday - After ticket purchase, Saturday begins with a tour of two local wholesale nurseries; Pleasant View Gardens, 7316 Pleasant St, Loudon, and then next door to Millican Nurseries, Inc., 187 Pleasant St, Chichester.   These two wholesale nurseries are not open to the public; however, Millican has generously offered each Garden Tour participant to purchase one plant during their scheduled morning tour.  From there, participants will follow their maps to view 4-6 selected rural gardens throughout Chichester.

Sunday begins with registration, ticket purchase and light morning refreshments at the Historical Society; and participants will follow their maps to view another 4-6 distinctive Chichester gardens selected to offer a cross-section of different types of gardens.   Both days include gardens of all types - vegetable, flower; shade, sun; fern; herb; simple to English style.  Some are wide open; others, secluded.  Look for hidden treasures in the woods awaiting discovery; others sport hilltop views.  Most have sculptures and statuary, architectural and water features.

Also for an added treat are designated Host Garden Sites offering refreshments, music and/or art provided by local talent. Chichester is proud of its many and diverse artisans…painters, photographers, hand crafters.  Take this opportunity to view and appreciate beautiful gardens as well as beautiful original artwork on display and for sale.  Feel free to speak with these local artists.

Garden Tour Coordinator Ann Davis stated “New this year is a Farmers Market.”  The Chichester Agricultural Commission has reserved a designated space in the Town/Grange Hall parking lot for local farmers/residents to sell agricultural products - produce, meats, eggs, honey, baked goods, flowers, dog treats, composting worms, etc.  Market hours both days are 10-2.

Chichester residents interested in setting up a canopy and/or table are encouraged to contact Ann Davis, 603-903-3891 or [email protected], for a space; space registration will be accepted until the end of the day on July 22.

The Chichester Garden Club started in the fall of 2012 with objectives to encourage more flower and vegetable gardens in Chichester and to promote the love of gardening, civic beautification and environmental responsibility through education and example.

The Garden Club works closely with its partners Historical Society, Heritage Commission, Town Library, Photography Club and Agricultural Commission.  Collaboration provides an avenue for a successful town-wide event as it brings town organizations closer, encourages working together for a common goal and builds a sense of community.  Ticket proceeds will benefit these six organizations.

Join us for a delightful day at the second biennial Historic Chichester Garden Tour on July 25th and 26th!
