Got Six Weeks To Change Your Life?

Curves Of Northwood Has A Plan

Curves of Northwood is offering local women the opportunity to change their lives in six weeks. The Curves 6 Week Solution includes six weeks of small, intimate classes where participants will learn how to lose weight and keep it off for good.

Change your body and your life! Curves of Northwood is currently accepting registrations for the next session of the Curves 6 Week Solution program. This session will be starting on Thursday, August 14th and will meet at 7 p.m. for the next seven consecutive weeks. Each weekly session will encourage and motivate, as well as, provide the necessary tools for a successful weight management program.

"Many women have a list of diets they've tried over the years and the one thing all these diets have in common is that they often fail," said Dawn Wiitala, Manager of Curves of Northwood. "Why? They leave you hungry and deprived, and they slow your metabolism, setting you up for a never-ending cycle of yo-yo dieting."

Under the direction of Richard B. Kreider, PhD, FACSM, scientists at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, have put the Curves fitness and weight-loss program to rigorous testing, scrutinizing its effects on hundreds os women. The results? Curves works. Women on the Curves plan have lost weight and kept it off, boosted their metabolism, lost body fat, gained muscle, and enjoyed several other significant benefits.

The Curves plan focuses on firing up the metabolism, small meals throughout the day, a broad variety of healthy food and strength training in a supportive, safe and fun environment.

There isn't any magic here, it's a common sense approach to weight loss that incorporates scientifically proven methods with a flexible plan that can be individualized," Wiitala said. "We've seen it work right here in Northwood."

We invite you and a guest into our facility at 262 First NH Turnpike, Suite #1, Northwood, NH, for a FREE tour and figure analysis. At this time we can explain the program to you in greater detail and answer any questions you may have. Call your mom, daughter or best friend and come see us! Studies show that any fitness or weight management program is even more successful when you do it with a friend!

Northwood Lake Water Tested Good

Andrea Tomlinson, Northwood Lake Association water quality monitor, with volunteer LuAnne Pidgeon and Sara Sumner, NH Department of Environmental Services, tested water quality on Northwood Lake June 20. Eight sites were tested at tributaries flowing into the lake. E.coli results were below the state standard of 406cts/100mi for surface waters. July 18 is the date for the next sampling.

The Watershed Association is sampling the lake once a month this season, more often than previous years. If problem sites are found, there will be more sampling at those sites.

Jim Vallaincourt, NW Lake vice president attended the 2008 NH Lakes Congress in Meredith. Emphasis was placed on septic systems. 25%of American households use septic systems and that percentage has stayed constant over the last 35 years. In New Hampshire, 65% of existing and 80% of new housing use septic systems. The overarching issue is septic system failure and its effect on groundwater and eventually NH lakes and streams. The three talking points are phosphorus, nitrogen and pathogens (E.coli). Many of the same concerns exist with storm water runoff. It's a concern about human activity and the effects of that activity on nature's water.

A reminder to all that the Annual Meeting will be held July 19, 4:30 p.m. at the Northwood Lake public beach. Jeffrey Schloss, Water Resources Specialist with the UNH Cooperative Extension, will be the guest speaker.
