John and Barbara Tuttle of Northwood wish to announce the marriage
of their daughter Kathleen A. to Victor R. Follansbee, Jr., son of
Janice and Victor R. Follansbee, Sr. of Stratham. The marriage was
held on September 4 at 3 p.m. at the James Tuttle Farm in
Nottingham. Friends and family attended the wedding ceremony, and
reception which immediately followed. The couple will reside in
Strafford.
Come and join friends and neighbors at the final outdoor Northwood
Farmers Market of the season on Thursday, October 7, from 3 to 6 at
our regular site on the corner of Rts. 4, 202, 9, and 43. There’s
still plenty of local products and produce available, so do your
part to support local agriculture by stocking up on winter squash,
potatoes, apples, honey, baked goods, soap and lotions, gourmet
mushrooms, and much more, all from local farmers.
And
mark your calendars – as we did last year, the Northwood Farmers
Market will move indoors to the Masonic Lodge at the same site, and
we’ll commence weekly indoor markets on Saturday mornings, beginning
on October 16 from 9 to noon and continuing until the Holidays. See
you at the Market!

National Precipitation Network
The national precipitation
network http://www.cocorahs.org/
has come a long way this year! As I write, the national water year
has ended - it runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30. This year CoCoRaHS is
able to compile for the first time reports from all the stations,
which are volunteer-run, that are reporting regularly, and that
information will be available soon to us volunteers. We will check
on our reports, fill in any missing information we can (it’s easy to
forget to report when there is no precipitation and one is in a
hurry, but I don’t think I missed any rain or snow in the past
year). I will keep you all updated.
My task now is to find some
more volunteers in our area. If any of you are interested you can
take a look at the website http://www.cocorahs.org/, where all the information you need can
be found. If you want more personal observations from a volunteer
please e-mail me at
[email protected] and I will be glad to share my
experiences with you. It’s a small but very important task, another
of the many things that we as individuals can do as part of a wider
effort and make a big difference!
See you at the rain gauge!
