There will be a “Stuff the Bus” fundraiser to benefit the Cocheco
Valley Humane Society on August 13th. This event will be located at
Heritage True Value Hardware on Route 4 in Northwood.
“Stuff the
Bus” is being organized by Brittany Readel for her senior portfolio
project at Coe Brown Northwood Academy. Donations from the Society’s
wish list would be greatly appreciated. Items include: pet toys,
food, blankets, and cleaning supplies. Used blankets and sheets are
also acceptable.
Monetary donations are also accepted, and
greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate, but can’t make it to
Heritage True Value Hardware on the day of the event, feel free to

Boat
Parade Winners
Northwood Lake Watershed Association’s annual Boat
Parade, coordinated by Marie Damon, was held July 30th on the lake.
It was a fun day for participants and spectators.
Jim
Vaillancourt, NLWA president, led the parade of 15 boats.
There were two categories: Pontoon Boats and Bow Riders.
Selectman and judge, Bob Holden, awarded the following prizes:
Pontoon Boats First Place: Jonah and The Whale - Pat and
Lorraine Valencia and Rick and Pat Geisler.
Second Place:
Christmas In July - Marie Damon, Donna and John Paris, Mark and
Tammy Dupuis, Robert Paris, Rylie and Aiden Dupuis, Pam Papadinis.
Third Place: Snow White & The 7 Dwarfs - Debbie Reale, Linda
and Dave Bouley, Gabby Pezzino (Snow White) and local residents as
the 7 Dwarfs.
Bow Riders First Place: Grease -
Cindy and Jack Anderson, Christine and John Anderson.
Second
Place: The Bump - Michael and Jennifer Cox, Nick, Ellie and
Meghan Cox and the “Funky Chicken”.
Third Place: Kenny
Chesney Theme - Tom Barker, Wendy Egan, Kelly Egan, April, Bobby and
Billy Hartshorner, Randy Wanamaker.
Some of the other creative
themes were: Boston Bruins and the Stanley Cup, Pirate Ship, Swamp
Thing and the 4th of July.

Presents “The Odd Couple”
The Ann White Northwood Theater
Workshop is proud to present “The Odd Couple” at the Scenic Theatre,
6 Depot St., Pittsfield.
Directed by Carole Neveux, the
play stars Kevin Barrett as Oscar and Ray Dudley as Felix. With a
talented supporting cast, the hilarious antics will keep you
laughing all show.
Performances are this weekend: Friday and
Saturday, August 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, August 14 at 2 p.m.

Want someone to talk to about all the great books you are reading?
Then join the Chesley Memorial Library’s Junior Book Club the
PageTurners!
Every month, we vote on a book we want to
read and then have a fun time meeting to discuss the book and doing
a fun activity related to the book! All you need to do is sign
up with Danielle, get a copy of the book (we provide copies of the
book to everyone who registers), read it, and come to the meeting.
Our meetings will be the first Tuesday of every month, beginning in
September (so our first meeting will be September 5), from
5:30-6:45. Our first book will be Scat by Carl Hiaasen.
Registration is required for PageTurners. Call the library at
942-5472 and speak with Danielle to register.
Teen Book Club
Ages 14 and up
The Teen Book Club is a fun way to read great new
books and hang out with friends at the same time! Want to have
a say in what we read? At each meeting members vote for a
later month’s book choice!
The Chesley Memorial Library’s
Teen Book Club, for ages 14 and up, meets on the last Thursday of
the month (depending on holidays). Each month we discuss a
commonly read book over goodies. Book club begins at 5:30 pm
and ends at 6:45 pm. Our August book choice is Toads and Diamonds
by Heather Tomlinson. Registration is required to ensure you
get a copy of our book. To register call the library at
942-5472 and speak with Danielle.
