Coe Brown
Northwood Academy is happy to announce that CBNA teacher and FFA
advisor Sarah M. Ward is to receive the Honorary American Degree for
teachers at the National FFA Convention in October of 2011 in
Indianapolis, IN.
The purpose of the Honorary American
Degree Teacher Award is to recognize agricultural education
instructors/FFA Advisors who have demonstrated total program quality
by using those factors that contribute to successful total programs.
Nominees must have taught for a minimum of ten years and have at
least 85% FFA membership in their agricultural education program.
Recipients in this category are selected on the basis of their
contributions in the following seven areas:
classroom/laboratory instruction, experiential learning of students,
National FFA Organization, building partnerships, agricultural
education program marketing, agricultural education program
development and evaluation, and professional development of
agricultural education teachers.
Mrs. Ward, certified in all
areas of agricultural education, has been a faculty member at Coe
Brown for 21 years and has been involved with FFA since 1979, as a
freshman at CBNA. She was also a member of Collegiate FFA
organizations at UNH and the University of Georgia and served as an
FFA advisor and Ag teacher in Georgia prior to returning to Coe
Brown. Mrs. Ward, of Barrington, was also honored with the
Connor Memorial Award for outstanding agricultural teacher of New
Hampshire in 2007.
Congratulations to Sarah Ward for this
outstanding achievement.

Community Claims National FFA Degree Recipient
Devon Farr, a
member of the CBNA Much-To-Do FFA Chapter from Northwood, NH, is to
receive the American FFA Degree. Earning this degree means
that Farr, CBNA Class of 2009, is one of a select group of
individuals to be recognized for years of academic and professional
excellence. The honor will be presented on October 22, 2011 at
the 84th National FFA Convention, to be held in Indianapolis, IN.
The American FFA Degree recognizes demonstrated leadership ability

agricultural experience (SAE) program in which they start, own or
hold a professional position in an existing agriculture enterprise
and serve 50 community service hours. Recipients must also

abilities and community involvement.
Each award recipient will
