Letter To The Editor
Dear Editor,
On December 16th Mrs. Ward and her
Advisory of the Pittsfield School District came to sing a
variety of Christmas songs and visit with our family at Vintage
Hill. The program was incredibly well organized, the students a
pure delight, and the songs simply joyful. Additionally, an
absolutely beautiful homemade craft wreath was presented as a
keepsake for our home, which will be enjoyed for many years to
come.
How thoughtful of you to take time out to spend with us, and
what a wonderful time we had. Many thanks, from all of us here
at Vintage Hill to all of you for your selfless act of kindness
– it truly made our day!
Most Sincerely,
Our Family at Vintage Hill, LLC

The
Pittsfield Area Senior Center an agency of Elder Services of the
Community Action Program Belknap-Merrimack Counties, Inc.
extends a great big thank you to all who purchased tickets to
our Christmas Food Basket Raffle. The winning ticket was
purchased in Concord. This family won a vast assortment of shelf
staples, a $20.00 gift card to Shaw’s Supermarket and a 22 pound
frozen meat package from Danis Supermarket here in Pittsfield.
The proceeds of this fundraising effort purchased the gift
card, the frozen meat package, and a Christmas Holiday Volunteer
Appreciation celebration for twenty-five. The Senior Center in
tandem with local couple purchased 30 fleece throws, the Country
Quilters Club in Barnstead donated gorgeous quilted placemates
and the Women of the local Congregational Church put up little
Santa pouches of Candy. All of these items along with donated
items from PSNH and presents from an anonymous donor in Concord
were put together in a bag for each of the 30 Meals on Wheels
recipients throughout Barnstead and Pittsfield. The
balance of the funds collected, has been donated to the
Pittsfield and Barnstead Food Pantries.
This effort was a
tremendous blessing for all of us who participated. Thank you
all.

Veterans - Do You Know Your Benefits?
Twenty-six million
Americans are military veterans. They’re men and women who have
earned benefits because of their service and sacrifice.
Yet,
too many American veterans don’t know what their benefits are -
or how to claim them.
Are you a veteran who needs to find out
about your benefits? Are you getting what you earned by your
service? Do you need help with a VA claim?
If you answered
yes to any of these questions, you need to talk with American
Legion Department Service Officer, Gary W. Wayman. He is ready
to help you - at no cost.

Letter
This has been a challenging year for Kenny, Katie and
I. Losing Ken was the worst nightmare you can imagine. The
community of Pittsfield has wrapped us in their arms and keep us
in their prayers and we are truly blessed.
Christmas morning
was tough. It was not only the Holiday, but would have been
Ken’s 46th birthday as well. A lot of tears were shed and our
thoughts were far from worrying about what we got for presents.
My daughter brought in a Christmas card addressed to me that she
found on her car in a baggy. The anonymous sender wrote a
beautiful note that deeply touched our hearts. They also
enclosed a generous gift that is greatly appreciated.
God
Bless You, our angels. Just knowing that Ken’s memory lives on
every day in the hearts of others is very comforting. People
don’t know what to say when they see me sometimes, because they
don’t want to upset me. Words are not always necessary. A hug, a
smile, a pat on the shoulder help us all.
My heart is full of
sorrow and pride at the same time. Pride for the man Ken
continues to be in the eyes of others, pride of my two wonderful
kids who I love so much it hurts and pride of living in this
wonderful community.
Thank you all once again. Thank you also
to our fantastic family and friends for your unending love and
support, I don’t know what we would do without you all.
Tina, Kenny and Katie Piaseczny.
2009 Christmas Tree Lighting and Children’s Store
On Sat.,
Dec. 5, The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce kicked off
the Holiday Season by sponsoring the annual Children’s Store and
Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration.
The day started with the
P.E.S. PTO sponsored Breakfast with Santa. Many families enjoyed
the pancake and sausage feast. The First Congregational
Church hosted a craft fair during the day too.
The much
anticipated Children’s Store was held at the P.E.S. Gym from 9-
noon. The Store is for “kids only” to purchase new or
“nearly” new items.- mostly priced at .50 each. Thanks to
the tremendous help of over 65 volunteers (acting as elves, gift
wrappers, or crowd control) close to 150 kids were able to shop
for their families.
We are constantly collecting items for
The Store (including gift BAGS and wrap). Please keep us in mind
when you are doing your “after Christmas” shopping and cleaning
out!
The festivities moved to Dustin Park later in the
afternoon. Bruce and Stacy Locke provided horse and wagon
rides, Phil Joyce and family provided Holiday music, the Fire
Department delivered Santa via fire truck and he posed for free
photos with all the kids. Bob Legg took photos of anyone willing
to ham it up in the “Holiday” cut out scene (thanks to the
creative talent of Judy and Ray Webber!). The photos were then
posted on the town website and could be downloaded. PYW
sponsored the annual Gingerbread House Display and Raffle and
hot soups and chili could be picked up inside too. Free
hot cocoa, cookies, and candycanes were provided (thanks to
members of the Park St. Baptist Church, Women of Rotary, CHF,
4-H Club, and So. Pittsfield Com. Club).
Many thanks to the
Pittsfield Youth Workshop and the Park St. Baptist Church for
allowing people to come in and warm up. PYW housed the
pictures with Santa, the Gingerbread House display, face
painting, hot food items and decorated wreath contest. The
Park St. Baptist Church housed the cookies and cocoa.
Thanks to all the helpers in the kitchen and to those that
helped pass out the treats too.
A decorated wreath contest
was held and winner by popular vote was Paula Driscoll.
She won a Holiday Gift Basket donated by Northway Bank.
The
Blue/Gold Star Mothers joined the celebration, providing stars
with military member’s names to be added to the Tree. Thank you
to Lea Adams for organizing this wonderful tribute. Dot Hardy
and members of the Advent Christian Church and local Brownie and
Girl Scout troops led everyone in singing many carols.
At 6
p.m., we counted down and the Tree was lit. (Many Thanks to the
“official” tree lighting and decorating committee). Louie Houle,
Bill Provencal, Ed Vien, Dave Hartley and Fuzz Freese string and
test all the lights. The Tree and Park look very festive – THANK
YOU! Immediately following the tree lighting, an awesome
Fireworks display (thanks to an anonymous donor) lit up the sky
over Drake Field. It was a great way to end the day and
the 2009 Holiday Season was underway!
This annual event takes
many, many volunteers from local groups, churches, town
departments, family and friends. Thank you to all who
helped to make it a great day.
