Greater Pittsfield Chamber Of Commerce Business After
Hours
Submitted By Michele Beauregard
The Greater Pittsfield
Chamber of Commerce was excited to hold yet another successful
Business After Hours. The event was hosted by Get Fit NH
Bootcamp on January 14th from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., located at
167 New Orchard Road in Epsom, NH. All Chamber Members were
provided a wonderful and comforting setting to network their
businesses.
The event took place within Get Fit NH Bootcamp’s gym. This
was an open area with mats on the floor and all along the walls
were different training tools, such as dumbbells and kettlebells.
On a north wall there were bars that are used for pull-ups and
chin ups.
Nancy and Dean are the owners of Get Fit NH
Bootcamp. Dean spoke about the activities that they provide
within the facility and how they work on a time structure, so
every exercise is timed in order to allow each person to move at
their own individual pace. This also allows new people to join
at all times.
After going over the structure of how they facilitate their
workouts, all of the Chamber Members were able to participate in
a game. I was handed what looked like a basketball and was
surprised when it weighed more than expected. The game that we
all played was similar to hot potato. We all gathered around in
a circle and Dean and Nancy controlled the music. We passed two
medicine balls around and whoever was holding the ball at the
end was out. This is a normal warm up that they like to
incorporate at the facility. The people who are out go and do
some exercises independently until the game is finished. This is
a fun and enjoyable way to start warming up the body. Nancy and
Dean incorporate games including a Fun Friday which you will
have to talk to them to find out more about!! They make working
out fun as well as challenging!!!
Get Fit NH Bootcamp provided all the Chamber Members with
excellent and healthy foods. They had a vegetable platter and
also some pumpkin snack bars which were delicious. They also had
waters available for everyone!
The Members who attended were able to interact with one
another and had the opportunity to learn about the individual
businesses and the services they offer. Everyone had a wonderful
time! There were at least 20 people at this event! To learn more
about this event and others, you can visit The Greater
Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce web site at
www.pittsfieldchamber.org.
We would like to send out a special Thank You to Get Fit NH
Bootcamp! We appreciate your offering the space within your
fabulous workout facility! If you are looking to start your year
off on the right foot with eating healthy and exercising, you
need to talk with Nancy or Dean Carlson at (603)344-2651 or
visit them on the web at

Letter
To The Residents Of Pittsfield,
In response to
Mr.Prichard’s Letter concerning the Citizen’s Petition for a new
Frontage definition and Home Occupation definition.
A Public
Hearing was held on January 7, 2010, at which time the Public
attending and the Planning Board had major concerns with Mr.
Prichard’s Zoning ordinances. Mr. Prichard spoke to the crowd as
a citizen at the Planning Board Meeting and then returned to the
board and spoke again as a board member.
First the Frontage
definition removes the right to count frontage on any Class VI
roads. There are presently 8.75 miles of Class VI roads in town
vs. roughly 39 miles of Town roads. This does not include the
roads owned and maintained by the State. Why rewrite an
Ordinance for approx. 18% of our roads and why hurt the
Landowners who have paid their taxes?
The Board felt that
removing this could cause a problem with a Municipal Land
Taking, which would involve another lawsuit (which is nothing
new to Mr. Prichard).
Mr. Prichard’s new Home Occupation
ordinance would add a Sign Ordinance, which this town has
defeated at other elections.
It would restrict number of car
visits to 12. When designing a new road the state uses 10 car
trips for a normal Residential Home a day. Who is going to
enforce this? Who is going to pay for this?
Presently the
Existing Zoning Ordinance allows a Home Occupation with a
Special Exception from the ZBA if you don’t allow them to review
and vote on issues.
In closing, it is my opinion that these
changes are self-serving and allow Jim and his cronies to
challenge and disrupt certain individuals who they don’t like or
agree with.
Please vote NO on the Citizen’s Zoning changes.

There Are Pirates Among Us!
The Pittsfield Players Kids’
Workshop Present
The Pirates of Penzance, Jr.
Maye Hart
and 42 of her finest kid performers prepare to ‘wow’ you with
the Junior version of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of
Penzance at the Scenic Theatre, home of the Pittsfield Players,
6 Depot Street, Pittsfield, NH .
The story unfolds as
Frederick, played by Mike Hayes and Mabel played by Nikki Del
Valle endeavor to outwit the Pirate King, played by Ryan Glennon
(last seen as Huck Finn in Big River) in hopes of restoring the
health of the Major General, Luis Del Valle and releasing his
daughters who are indentured to be married by the many Pirates
of Penzance.
The show is entirely run by the kids; (with the
exception of direction by Maye Hart, choreography by Dee Pitcher
and costuming) lights, backstage (with the help of a few adults)
and set decoration and, of course, acting and is set to hit the
Scenic Stage February 18, 19 and 20 at 7:30 PM
Tickets are
available through the Pittsfield Players website, Pittsfield
players.com using the TicketLeap button; by calling the Scenic
Theatre at 435-8852 and leaving a message (your call will be
returned); or at the box office the times of the performances.
Tickets are $8/children under 18, $10/adult. All proceeds
benefit the non-profit organization of The Pittsfield Players, a
community theatre forty years strong.
So, if you haven’t
heard the classic song, “I am the Very Model of a Modern Major
General” or the war cry of “Tarantara” in awhile, come to The
Pirates Of Penzance, Jr., you won’t be disappointed.
A huge thank you goes to Tom & Mary Chayer for donating stone for
repairing the wall at PYBA Park and to Peter Pszonowsky for
spending Saturday morning hauling four loads of rock from the
Chayer’s house to the fields. Dan Schroth organized the
operation. He and his crew worked for 15 days, often in very
cold weather, rebuilding the wall and have donated and
transported 24 loads of flat stone to do the necessary shimming.
Thanks guys.
Letter To The Editor
The The Good Citizens Of Pittsfield:
Many thanks to Jim Pritchard, Dan Greene, and Clayton Wood for
your Letter in last week’s Sun.
I always thought we were born
with the right to make a living from our home.
All you need,
in some cases, is the Internet, to have a storefront to the
world. The world has changed. We don’t all drive to work and
work at a regular 40 hour per week job.
Most of us have to
make a living with whatever God gave us for wits and back power.
From year to year we do as we please. Life is enriched by
aspiration and effort rather than by acquisition and
accumulation.
Our lives need not have been planned or
patterned.
Jim, maybe you could find a worthwhile project to
work on.
