Suncook Valley Fat Tire Club
By Kyle Clark
Thirteen riders and two golden
retrievers met in Hayes Field at Bear
Brook on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. We
headed up Podunk Rd. to the infamous “I”
Trail. The trail was rocky, rooty, never
ending, and showed no mercy. An askew
log was across the trail taunting riders
to attempt crossing it. Ray Webber said
“Log, here I come!” The log responded
with “Nope, I don’t think so,” and threw
Ray like a rag doll, resulting in a
gashed arm, half a brake lever missing,
and a bruised ego. He brushed it off
though and kept going. We made our way
up a nasty climb and onto a rocky
outcropping. Finally the trail brought
us back onto Podunk Rd. We then took The
Lynx Trail. This trail boasted quite the
baby head (little boulders)
extravaganza. Once through that section
it was some sweet downhill with lots of
hidden treasures in the leaves. We took
The Beaver Pond trail in a reverse
direction. Within minutes all but three
riders of the group had made a wrong
turn and were on an unexpected journey.
Apparently not paying attention, Glenn
Raiche rode right into some rocks in the
trail and went flying off his bike. He
managed to hit his head and bash his
leg. Good thing the one who crashes the
most totes a full face helmet. After
quite some time on this trail they took,
it just ended and they had to about
face. We all finally reconvened and took
The Salt Lick trail back to Hayes Field
to finish the ride.
