It’s
time again, and during the holidays there is often a high demand for
blood. On Thursday, January 6th from 3:30 to 8:00 pm, there
will be a Red Cross Blood Drive at the Pittsfield Elementary School
on Bow Street, sponsored by the PTO. To avoid wait time you
may call 1-800-Red-Cross (1-800-733-2767) for an appointment.
However, walk-ins are welcome. While you help save lives by
giving blood, Dunkin’ Donuts is offering “Give a pint - Get a
pound.” Child care is provided for your convenience.
Celebrating Birthdays are: January 7, Ardra Cate, Christina
Cornell; January 8, Christine Dunne; January 9, Barbara Smith, Kelly
Blackey; January 11, Jay Hubbard, Anthony Bender.

To The Editor
To the good citizens of Pittsfield: There will
be three Public Hearings Thursday, January 6th, in the lecture hall
at the high school, starting at 7:00 pm.
New zoning
amendments from 7:00 - 8:30; Petition to repeal the 1988 Zoning
Ordinance from 8:30 - 8:45; and Town acceptance of Baily Road from
8:45 - 9:00. Wow!
The idea to rid our town of zoning gets 15
minutes. I will try to keep my talk, which includes a tax map
of our State showing Pittsfield’s tax rate running away from the
pack, the State Zoning map which shows 19 communities mostly up
north and out west that don’t seem to need zoning as they have none,
and twenty reasons why Pittsfield should repeal zoning. I’ll
try to get this talk down to three minutes, thereby giving the rest
of the town 12 minutes. God save the people.

Letter
On this past snowy December 27, 2010 I had to go to Laconia for a
9:00 am appointment despite the wintry weather. On my way back home
to Pittsfield I slid off Route 107 in Gilmanton, NH and ended up
with my truck deep in snow. Though this could have been the
beginning of a bad situation, it ended up giving me the opportunity
to meet several nice people in Gilmanton. Thanks to an
anonymous man who gave me a ride to the Gilmanton Corner Store and
to Beth at the Corner Store who kept up my spirits with interesting
conversation and hot tea. Later Bill, a store customer, drove
me back to my stranded vehicle and cleared the snow away so that the
tow truck could have better access. Thanks, Bill. And thanks
to Al’s Towing for coming so quickly and to Officer Fiske for
handling the traffic situation and checking on me. I
appreciate all the help I received that snowy day.
