Happy Anniversary on August 13 to Merrill and Diane Vaughan.
Regional Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) Document Is
Available For Public Comment
Central NH Regional Planning Commission (CNHRPC), along with the
Southern NH Planning Commission (SNHPC), have been working on the
development of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy
(CEDS), for our 20 communities plus 5 from SNHPC. The document is an
economic plan for the region and it includes several key components:
1. A Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat analysis
2. An analysis of our regional industry cluster
3. A series of goals and objectives designed to strengthen our
local economy by capitalizing on our assets and addressing our
challenges
4. A series of proposed projects to implement these strategies
At this time, the final document is available for public review and
comment.
The comment period ends August 26, 2014.
The CEDS is available on our website: http://cnhrpc.org/images/stories/CEDS/ceds%20draft%20July%2021.pdf

Letter To The Editor
On September 9th we will get to choose who will be the Republican
candidate for governor to take on incumbent Hassan. I want to
encourage you to consider supporting Bristol native, and
entrepreneur, Andrew Hemingway. I believe Governor Hassan is taking
NH down the road of MA and that the best way to defeat her is to
nominate someone with stark contrasts. With all due respect to the
other GOP candidate for governor (Walt Havenstein), he doesn’t seem
to demonstrate a whole lot of difference from our current governor.
I could say more about that, but I want to focus on the positive
side.
As governor, Mr. Hemingway would help protect our Fourth Amendment
privacy rights; implementing legislation that prohibits the State
from collecting an individuals health information. Also, barring law
enforcement from accessing data on a suspect’s cell phone without a
proper warrant. It’s time for a governor who is pro freedom, which
is the biggest ingredient required to create an atmosphere conducive
for the entrepreneur to start a business and provide jobs.
It’s time to end the status quo in NH. Since 2004, our unemployment
rate has gone up 35% and since 2011, it has ceased to be the lowest
in the region. I don’t want to see my favorite state continue to
slide. It’s time to elect Andrew Hemingway as governor.
Sincerely,
Willie Matras

Thank You
Ray and I would like to thank all of our family and friends for the
outpouring of support that was given to us during Rays recovery
after his triple bypass surgery. The many prayers first of all and
the rides, cards, and all the donations that got us through this
difficult time. We pray that God blesses each and everyone of you in
a special way, the way that Ray and I have been blessed.
Thank you all so much
Love,
Ray and Tedie St.Pierre
TOPS
At TOPS our KOPS best loser two weeks ago was Mickey and our Tops
was April, this past week our KOPS was Peggy and our Tops was Jon.
Kudos to you all and keep up the good work.
We did have our area Captain come out for a visit and do our program
and that was very interesting with information on the benefits of
walking and what it does to our bodies.
This past week we had Royalty and again I say great job to everyone.
We would like to welcome Heather who is a new member.
We have an Inspiration Workshop coming up along with a auction.
We had a small program on the seven steps to weight loss. A couple
tips were portion control, really keep a eye on your plate to see
how much it has on it. It’s best to eat a smaller amount and then
give it some time to see if you are still hungry. Cut your portion
size by 20 % and that will help. Walking is best and we often use
our calories with our drinks, keep an eye on them and use your
calories on food and drink water or tea.
So, I guess our word of the week is move, move, move. If anyone is
interested in joining us we meet on Tuesday nights at the Berakah on
Fairview Rd. in Pittsfield @ 5:30 for weigh-in and @ 6:30 for our
meeting. Any questions please call Janis White @491-5532 or Claire
Coll @ 435-7271. Hope everyone has a good week and see you all
lighter next week!

Forever Friends
These four ladies, Jean Chickering Nardozzi of Hobe Sound, Fla. and
Pembroke; Carolyn Tonkin Reed of Keene; Joan Remington Wentworth of
Concord; and Joan Trace Riel of Pittsfield (now all 85 or older)
first met at the Abbie Tilsley Dance Studio at the Friendly Club Gym
in Concord in the early 1930s. Dance lessons and recitals continued
until the late ‘40s. High school graduations took them on different
journeys, but they always kept in touch. Now each summer they still
get together for a luncheon date and fun times reminiscing. They
continue to be “forever friends.”

Letter To The Editor
I would like to say Thank You to the Suncook Valley Rotary Club and
everyone who was a part of this year’s 2014 Hot Air Balloon Rally at
Drake Field in Pittsfield, NH. From the looks of the weather mid
week, the weekend looked liked it would be rain Sat. and Sun. After
a slight delay with the weather on Saturday night, it turned out to
be great.
After a nice walk along the midway, my wife and I, along with my
little boy, sat under the Suncook Valley Rotary Tent and had some of
the best hamburgers and hot dogs we have had all year long along
with drinks and chips. Right from our seats we saw the huge pretty
balloons being inflated with hot air, to sail away into the sunset.
It was so beautiful to see.
After dinner we moved from our seats under the tent and walked to
the baseball field with many other people. We put a blanket on the
grass and listened to some great music from Studio Two “The
Beatles.” The band was fantastic for young and old with
John, Paul, George, and Ringo. It was a night we will always
remember to be relaxing and fun, especially when we are knee deep in
snow this winter.
Thank You Suncook Valley Rotary Club for all your efforts each year
to put this wonderful program together and make it a nice family
event for everyone.
