Fall Updates at PYW
After a fun-filled summer - PYW is back to our regular school year
scheduled. We are open Monday - Friday from 3-6PM.
Check out our calendar to see all the great programs we will be
offering over the next three months.
On PES Early Release Wednesdays, we will be offering several great
6th grade only trips. On no school days, we also have some amazing
trips planned. Columbus Day will be spent Outdoor Rock Climbing,
Veterans Day at Funspot, and a trip to a corn maze in early October.
If you are interested in any of these programs please sign up early
- trips fill up very fast! One day each month, the PYW computers
will be shut down and we will be working together on a community
service project. During these days, we ask that the youth who come
to Drop-In participate fully in the activity we have planned. We
have a lot of fun opportunities for youth to give back to their
community!
PYW will also be organizing board games on Mondays, Outdoor
Activities on Tuesdays, Arts & Crafts activities on Fridays and
cooking classes will be starting in October. In addition, there will
be a Girls Only Afternoon on 11/7, we will be holding the Annual
Haunted House on Halloween Night, and our Thanksgiving Family Dinner
on Wednesday, November 26th.
The Pittsfield Listens Y.O.A.C. is a youth driven group that
empowers student voice and leadership to bring about positive social
change in the community. Meetings will be held at PYW. All student
in grades 7th-12th are welcome!
If you have any questions about any of our activities

The Roosevelt Funeral Train, probably the greatest train event in
American History (along with the Lincoln Funeral Train 80 years
earlier), will be the featured topic at the next meeting of the
Pittsfield Historical Society, Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 PM at the
Society’s headquarters, Elm Street. Deception, cover up, betrayal, a
Russian spy, the A Bomb (Stalin knew about it but Harry Truman did
not), a nation mourns, a white Cadillac convertible, a Russian
portrait painter: all in 4 days of history while the greatest war
ever fought is winding to a close.
The raffle items just keep pouring in! This beautiful basket has
been donated by Stacy Davis for the raffle on the night of Cabaret
For A Cure, September 20. You can ONLY win this by coming to the
Cabaret, another great reason to buy a ticket!
Kate Crary and Gerri Casey ham it up every night of rehearsal, see
what’s in store for you at the Cabaret this year! Tickets, $12,
available by calling Meggin Dail, 736-8073.

An American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Benefit
The Scenic Theatre, 6 Depot St., Pittsfield
Sponsorship Request
The Cabaret For A Cure is an evening filled with music, inspiring
stories, laughter and so much more in an effort to raise money for
the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research vehicle, Making
Strides. All of our cast and crew volunteer their time to make the
show a memorable night for all.
The first Cabaret For A Cure raised over $2,000.00; last year we
expanded to two locations and raised over $5,000.00; while this year
we are back to one location we still anticipate this to be a very
successful fundraiser through the help of donors like you.
We’re asking for your financial support in raising money to fund the
show that raises awareness about how cancer, of all kinds, affects
us all. Below are listed the ways and amounts that you can help and
rest assured, any monies that are not used for the purposes of
buying music, print advertising, licensing or other expenses, go
directly to The American Cancer Society (TAX ID # 13-1788491) in
your name. Checks may be made out to either Meggin Dail, Cabaret
director, for paying for show incidentals; or directly to The
American Cancer Society. Checks made to Meggin Dail will be entered
into the show receipts and then transferred to the Making Strides
website under the team “Super Friends Fighting Cancer.”
