The Pittsfield American Legion Peterson-Cram Post 75 will hold their
November meeting on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 7:30 pm at the Post
Home located on Loudon Road. Final plans for Veterans
Day observance that will be held on November 11, 2016 at 11:00 am at
the Veterans Memorial on Main Street in Dustin Park. There
will also be other affairs of The Post that will be discussed.
The Americanism Committee Chairman Merrill Vaughan reminds everyone
to vote on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Town Hall. This
election will decide on the leadership of our nation for the next
four years. Remember, EVERY vote counts.

Dorcas Guild
Plans Christmas Fair
Mark your calendar! The Dorcas Guild of
the First Congregational Church, 24 Main Street, Pittsfield, is
holding its annual Christmas Fair and Bake Sale Saturday, November
19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There are many handmade items to choose
from as well as gourmet products, baked goods, “Unique Boutique” and
the wonderful silent auction. Corn chowder and sandwich lunch with
homemade pies will also be available. Plan to be there for this
handcraft goldmine!
Since the Dorcas Guild will NOT be holding
its annual Craft Fair this year, final silent auction bids are due
in no later than Sunday, December 4, 12:30-2:30, when the auction
will end and the successful bidders will be notified.
Plenty of free parking in the rear (enter
on Chestnut Street), and the church is wheelchair accessible. For

Our TOPS chapter recently participated in Catherine Snow’s
celebration of her 2 year KOPS status in reaching her weight goal.
KOPS stands for Keep Off Pounds Sensibly. Pat read a short tribute
to Catherine about her contributions to TOPS. Fellow KOPS members
lit candles in support and celebration. It is inspirational to
see members reach and maintain their goal.
Weight loss is often a challenging journey, but with diligence and
support from TOPS members, it can be achieved. TOPS is a
weight loss support program which meets on Tuesdays 6:30 at Berakah
on Fairview Rd. in Pittsfield. We would be glad to have you

Pumpkin ‘n Pine Fair
Save Saturday, November 5th for a charming, country church fair.
There will be fun, food and treasures at the Congregational Church
of North Barnstead. Bring family and friends, jump start your
holiday list with unique gifts and join with others for a delicious
lunch in the café. Credit cards are accepted. Childcare
will be available for shoppers.
The fair has many favorite features including jewelry, collectibles,
baked goods, holiday decorations, preserves and hand-made items.

day this (photographed) elephant purse made from Ghanaian fabric
receives a complement. The silent auction is always a popular

Editor
I think that this election is a very
interesting one.
On one side you have a person who had four
indictments, four people killed in Benghazi and lied about it,
deleted 33,000 plus emails - after Congress asked for them, then
month later another few thousand, on man killed (proven) from her
emails.
The other side -
A very successful businessman. You might
not like his actions/speech - but has worked around the word
building up the business.
If you came from another planet and saw
these facts, who would you vote for?
Another thing, if you are TRULY a
Christian, you can’t vote for the first one.
Another, they have proven voter fraud in
the last election. Dead people voted - is that fraud? They have
their names.

We were short one Board member due to
Carole Richardson’s absence. Larry, Gerard, Carl, and Jim were in
attendance.
Bill Elkins presented the Board and the
public with a request for a rate hike for Housing Standards
Inspections. HSA is a self funding entity that relies solely on fees
to cover their operating costs. Clearly the current rates do not
cover all necessary expenses due to a couple of changes in the way
HSA is billed by the Town for its share of services. A $10 increase
for bi-annual inspections and $5 for re-inspections and no-shows was
approved so that HSA remains solvent.
Clayton Wood reviewed the Zoning Board and
Planning Board’s proposed rule changes which will go before voters
in March. The Board didn’t hear anything that sounded too radical.
There will be a Public Hearing Nov. 3 at 7PM in the Town Hall for
anyone with an interest.
A parking ban waiver for a handicapped
resident was approved.
A request by Police Chief Cain to promote
Officer Joe McCormack to Sergeant was approved after Chief Cain’s
recitation of his qualifications. As the Board member casting the
sole vote opposing the advancement, I would simply say that while I
had no reason to question Officer McCormack’s ability to do the job,
I could not support more than an 8% increase in pay.
Chief Cain also requested permission to
post for applicants for a full time patrolman’s position created by
Officer McCormack’s advancement. With a clear understanding that
creating a pool of potential candidates was not an approval to
actually fill the position, this request was unanimously approved. A
decision on filling this vacancy will be made at a later date, once
we are into the budget process. Posting for applicants does not
automatically mean someone will be hired.
We were brought up to speed on the Miskoe
project at 37 & 33 Main St., which, subsequent to the recording of
Bill’s deeds, is now well underway. No doubt this undertaking is the
talk of the town, and ultimately should be a benefit all around,
thanks to Mr. Miskoe’s generosity.
Students at Pittsfield Elementary School
were visited by Pittsfield Fire Chief Peter Pszonowsky, Kris Ahearn,
Lt. Ken White, and Tim Henninger during Fire Prevention Month. They
talked to the students about smoke alarms, exit plans, and showed
them the fire suits that they wear.

BCEP Waste Facility
I am collecting aluminum can tabs to raise money for the Shriners
and/or David’s House. The Shriners support children’s hospitals and
burn centers where there is no charge to the patient.
David’s House is connected with
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and allows families of a children
up to 18 years of age to stay for a $20.00 donation per night for as
many nights as are necessary.
